Content Management Systems

Don't you just hate updating pages on your clients' websites?

You're a designer, you like to design beautiful-looking websites. What you don't want to do is spend a couple of days of your working week updating the odd piece of text for clients. But this is what they need. We all know Google loves new content, and more importantly websites need to change with the times - companies need to highlight their new product or service, tell their customers about some recent press coverage, or tell them that they've moved premises!

So, let websushi help you manage your client content

Over a period of several years, websushi has built and perfected a Content Management System (CMS) which aims to do exactly what it says on the tin - manage content! Too many systems on the market are far too complex and do more than most users ever need. We took a different approach - deliver a system which is easy to use, and allows your customers to do as much (or as little) as you want!

While rich in functionality, the system is configured so it only gives your client access to what you want them to be able to change. Some of the features that can be added include:

Rich-text editor

It's important for your customers to be able to change the text and images on their website. But you don't want them changing it too much! We can control what your client can do, and which styles (direct from your stylesheet) they can apply - meaning no more scrolling/flashing/100px text - giving you the confidence that your beautiful creation will remain beautiful!

Manage navigation

Adding new sections, categories, sub-sections and so on are no problem at all , within the the parameters of your design. If you only ever want 2 levels of navigation, that's all your customer gets! Assuming your navigation is textual (and doesn't need you to create images), it can be updated in a matter of seconds!

Widgets

Widgets, or 'feature boxes' are the elements that can appear anywhere on the website, but normally appear in a right or left column, and offer useful information and links to other sections on the website. You can see an example on this site - those green boxes on the right? Widgets! These can be created once, and then linked to from any page.

News/Listings

To ensure a fresh stream of interesting and relevant content it can be great to add a news page to websites. This is much like adding a new web page, but instead lists the content by date. Of course, the most common use for this is news stories, but this can also be used for FAQs, products, results/scores - or pretty much anything else.

Galleries

A picture paints a thousand words. While customers can explain their products and services using the rich-text editor, a gallery of related images can seal the deal. For clients who sell products, or even photographers this can be priceless, and our CMS includes a gallery management system which displays thumbnails in a grid (which can be styled any way you like) , and opens images using a lightbox effect.

Forms

Most websites have at least one form - usually a contact form. You can style the form elements in the CSS, and then your client can build their own forms. Perhaps they need to add a new mandatory 'company' field - using the CMS this can be achieved in a matter of minutes, meaning you don't have to worry about recording your form-to-email scripts.

There are thousands of systems you can use, so why websushi?

Because we take your beautiful designs, and build the CMS into your templates - meaning you don't have the hassle of trying to crowbar your beautiful designs into a rigid system that can't be changed. We can customise our system for any of your clients - adding, removing and changing functionality so it behaves in exactly the way you want.
