Changes in VAT for ecommerce sites - 01 January 2010

Wednesday 16th December 2009

As you're probably already aware, VAT-registered businesses in the UK will need to increase the amount of VAT they charge from 15.0% to 17.5% on standard-rate VAT items 01 January 2010.

This affects all businesses - not just ecommerce websites. But it's important that ecommerce websites are updated to reflect the change in VAT rate. This might be just a reflection in the VAT receipts provided by the website, but regardless of whether it affects consumer prices or not, must be done.

We've already identified a list of websushi clients that this affects and we'll be contacting the relevant people in the next day or so. If you're a websushi customer and need to have all your products updated, we'll do this for you - directly in the database - on January 01. That way you can relax and enjoy the post New Year celebrations haze whilst we take care of business!
